What can we say? Four years of hiking using the standard L.L strut crap they sell at the stores, a
few hunts out with these awesome calls and we were calling in turkeys right and left. And this is
an area where turkeys are pretty scarce! Good Job Mayo and Shannon!

"If someone were to ask my opinion of Backwoods Calls, I'd have to say "It's the sweetest
friction call I've ever used.  I've only had name brand calls before, such as Primos, Madd,
etc...But the Backwoods glass over glass is definitely the cream of the crop...Never had a call
that could purr so easily with no effort at all, and the cutting...Holy Smoke!!!  It sounded so good
with a crisp sound.  Last season, I heard a boss hen down the valley late one evening doing her
assembly call.  So I did just what she was doing, but with a little more feeling with the
Backwoods call.  No more than 10 minutes later, she was standing right in front of my blind, just
making a horrible racket trying to find out where I was.  But right behind her by about a minute
came and awesome Tom.  Needless to say, the hen left by herself.  Shannon and Mayo say
they're improving their calls this year.  I guess this year's models must slice & dice plus shoot,
clean and cook your bird for ya."

I've used a bunch of pot style calls, and I'm really impressed with this one.  I love the sound.  We
videoed two kills, and after listening to the Purpleheart on the audio, I'm even more impressed
with the realism of the call.  It's loud when it needs to be, but it can be toned down when the
bird gets close.  Good clucks and purrs.  It's a heavy call, which I personally like.  The weight
helps me keep the call steady, and it provides a good, stable "working surface"...or that's my
theory, at least. I like the shape of the pot, especially the "groove" around the outside rim as my
fingers fit that nicely, which then contributes to a good grip on the call.  The crystal surface
does take some conditioning - I used a stone instead of sandpaper, and that seemed to work
really well - but once you get it conditioned, it stays in shape.  We had rain Monday morning, and
the Purpleheart combined with an all-acrylic striker never skipped a beat...literally.

All in all, I'm very pleased and impressed with the call.  It sits in my lefthand chest pouch of my
turkey vest, and I'll use it all season long and for seasons to come.  If this call is indicative of
your entire line, you guys are doing a fantastic job!

Your friction calls are without a doubt the most realistic sounding calls I have ever heard, plus
they easily and consistently produce quality sounding purrs, clucks, yelps, and cuts. The
numerous namebrand calls I have purchased never have produced acceptable sound quality,
skip unevenly when purring, don't break right when yelping, and contain dead spots. Other
custom callmakers charge high prices for little improvement in the quality.  Your calls are truly
high quality custom calls at an unbelievably low price, and are a must have for any serious
turkey hunter who want to consistently give toms piggyback rides to their truck.  I have
steadfastly refused to endorse anyone's calls ... until I heard and started playing your calls.
Mayo and Shannon - you can be extremely proud of the great service you are providing to all
your fellow turkey hunters.  Bravo zulu !!!!!!
