| It all started when two Southerners, transplanted to the Pacific Northwest, decided to chase turkeys together. With our love of the outdoors and over 30 years of hunting experience between us, this was a perfect match. During a discussion of hunting techniques and gear, the nuances of different calls came up. We shared a common opinion. Quality turkey calls shouldn't cost a small fortune. Backwoods Calls emerged from the idea of making a great sounding, custom field grade turkey call that wouldn't break the bank. Well, we think we've done it. Our calls are made to order. Each one is handcrafted and tuned to satisfaction before we send it into the turkey woods. After all, it's our name on it. We are forced to face changes and follow an everchanging path in this journey known as life. I have recently moved to the DFW, Texas area while Mayo continues to reside in Everett, WA. We will continue to produce Backwoods Calls products, but we are currently operating at a much slower production rate until further notice. |
